As I rush down Dalston high-street, searching for the coffee shop Yucel sent me via text, I see him looking out the window, staring into the distance, as if he was thinking of something brilliant. Yucel is a visual artist and photographer, he’s always lived in London and sees beauty in the simple. Here at FHIVE, we love to explore a wide breadth of talent.
So Yucel, what do you do?
Good first question. I’m a Photographer and a visual artist.
What’s your experience in the London fashion scene?
I’ve done a bit of Creative Direction as well as a photography for various publications.
How do you find work?
Networking is the most successful, approaching people will cut out a lot of noise. It’s hard work, but once you have the courage to be able to approach people and believe in what you do, the world can be yours! Being creative can be anxiety provoking but overcoming our fears is a good step forward.
Biggest challenge finding work?
Believing in what you do, once you stop doubting yourself you can achieve anything!
What are you most passionate about?
Having the opportunity for someone to think about something different. Creating art is to convey a feeling or message, and if you are able to create space for the viewer to inspire them and evolve, that’s the aim!
What’s the most exciting thing in your life right now?
Setting my foundations for a happy future and becoming a better human.
How would you describe your personal style?
Timeless, clean, architectural
Favourite item in your wardrobe and why?
Knitwear and tailored trousers! All of them! Chic, simple, and timeless. It’s a good indication of style rather than a trend.
